OLD VS. NEW..
Traditional (old-fashioned) saunas work by heating the surface of the skin, which then warms the underlying muscles and tissues of the body. Excessive time spent within a traditional sauna can lead to heat-related exhaustion and eventually dehydration.
The inside of these generic saunas is often overly humid as water is heated electronically or by a stove, in order to heat and humidify the room through the release of steam, which will then cause the body to break into a sweat.
Generally speaking, most health and recreation centres only recommend that you spend a maximum of 15-20mins inside the sauna at any one time.
This is one way an Infrared Sauna is dramatically different; as the heaters warm the body in the same manner as natural sunlight.
TRADITIONAL VS INFRARED..
Another significant point of difference between traditional styles of saunas and Infrared saunas, comes down to what type and how many toxins you detox.
During a sweat analysis comparison, it was determined that infrared saunas produce sweat containing 80% water and 20% toxins whilst traditional steam saunas produce sweat containing 97% water and only 3% in toxins.
An infrared sweat will also contain cholesterol, fat soluble toxins, heavy metals (mercury, aluminium and arsenic), nicotine, sulphuric acid and ammonia, as opposed to only water and sodium chloride (salt) from traditional saunas!
